Music at McClellan

My second big assignment yesterday was the final Music at McClellan.  For the past 5 summers, the Alabama Symphony Orchestra holds a series of concerts through May and June at Longleaf Park which is on the site of the former Fort McClellan which was decommissioned about 10 years ago.

Lots of people come, bring food and the whatnot, but the final performance every year always draws a larger crowd due to the canons they bring in when they pay The 1812 Overture.

Canons fire and get reloaded during the Alabama Symphony Orchestra’s performance of The 1812 Overture Saturday night during Music at McClellan.

The United States flag hangs down behind the Alabama Symphony Orchestra Saturday night.

Janet Richey tries to get her son Jack interested in the hula-hoop she brought to the Music at McClellan performance Saturday night. He was not interested.

Mary Crabtree smiles as she pops open a bottle of wine before the start of the final Music at McClellan of the summer.

Whitney Seals plays with bubbles before the start of Saturday night’s Music at McClellan.

Kamlyn Thomas smiles as his dad Jerry hangs him upside down after spinning him by his legs.
