Not your typical press conference

Shot a few things for the paper today.  This was a “press conference” being held by a group called Community Against Pollution.  The group is planning on sending about 40 of its members to Iowa to help repair damage from the flooding.

The group is interesting in that its a not-for-profit for profit group.  The group itself trains people on how to repair environmental damage and then gets them certified to do so.  Then its members go out and work on projects to generate revenue for themselves individually.

In Iowa, members will be working approximately 12 hours a day for $17.50 or so an hour.  Maybe I’m in the wrong industry.

David Baker, executive director of Community Against Pollution, speaks to members of the group Saturday about their trip to help repair damage caused by the floods in Iowa.

David Baker, Executive Director of Community Against Pollution, speaks with Devaughn Long prior to Baker’s announcement about the group’s trip to Iowa Saturday afternoon.
