I was at a park working on some stuff for the paper and saw a hawk come out of the sky, grab a duck by the neck then proceed to try and take off with said duck. Apparently the duck was heavier than the hawk predicted and had to let it go. What the duck?
I met Curtis Guest of Collins Hill High School at the beginning of Football season when Brandon Brigman and I did our first 2 Minute Drill. I had this idea last week, but didn’t know when I’d get to use it. I know its been done before, but it hadn’t been done at my paper [...]
Shot the Gwinnett Gladiators vs. Charlotte Checkers ECHL hockey game tonight at the Gwinnett Arena. I think I’m getting better at shooting hockey. In addition to the standard shots from the floor, I also tried shooting from the catwalk that goes around the top level of the arena where the press sits. Didn’t completely work [...]
Late last night I found out about one of my favorite bands playing a concert in Atlanta less than 24 hours from when I read about it at The Masquerade on North Avenue. Needless to say, I made sure to be there and I brought my camera. For background The World/Inferno Friendship Society, which describes [...]
Here are some other pictures I shot tonight at the World/Inferno show. Shadow drummers are the new rage. They don’t give you as much lip as real drummers.
The other day I went out to shoot photos for the fall photo spread the paper does. This is a really loose edit, so some of the photos are somewhat similar compositionally in ways I normally wouldn’t bother uploading. However, despite this, I decided to put them all up anyway. Photos were taken at the [...]
Here are photos from the second game I shot in Columbus today. These are from the Mill Creek vs. East Coweta game for the AAAAA championship. The Mill Creek players hoist up their shiny new AAAAA State Championship tropy.
Drove down to Columbus, Ga. this morning to take photos at the Georgia State Softball Championships. Buford was one of the games I shot. They played Calhoun for the AA championship and won for the second year in a row. The Buford Head Coach Tony Wolfe gets Gatorade dumped on him after his team won [...]
We needed a rain feature today, but usually when it rains people do whatever it takes to stay dry (in most cases). Fortunately, my boss thought of a place where people would be out rain or shine. The office of elections where people were waiting to vote early. We mainly needed rain and not elections, [...]
Max Garcia is an offensive lineman at Norcross High School. The request I was given was to illustrate the tough decisions players have to make about where they will go to play in college if they get multiple offers. Thankfully, Max was really friendly and was willing to play along when I asked him to [...]
