Homework for adults

I shot this story about a homework academy for parents at Lawrenceville Elementary School the other week.

This was another one of those situations that should have been technically difficult to photograph.  The lights in the room were off and the ambient light would have come from the door to the hall or the projector.  I didn’t want to bounce the light off the ceiling because thats not where the light was coming from and I didn’t think it would look right.

What I ended up doing was taking my strobe and putting it on a table between the door and the screen.  I alternated between bouncing it off the white board and having it directly at the parents in the audience depending on which direction I was shooting the audience from.

Lawrenceville Elementary Parent Coordinator Nury Crawford discusses methods for parents to encourage their children to do homework at the school’s Homework Academy on Wednesday. The hourlong presentation also discussed how to help students with organizational skills.
