The old-and-busted new-hotness

With some assignments, you never really know if they are going to make interesting photos.  This was one of those times.

The county editor mentioned to me today before I went out that she didn’t think this would make good art and had planned to use something else that had already been shot as dominant if need be.

I generally like a challenge though so I did what I could to make it at least somewhat interesting, apparently she liked the art enough to move the story back to dominant.

They ran the first two photos.

Louise Radloff and Jim Steele look around a newly refurbished school bus that was built in 1990. The Gwinnett County school system could save $30 million if they approve a plan to refurbish old buses like this one instead of purchasing new ones.

Jim Steele shows off a refurbished bus to Gwinnett County Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks outside of the Instructional Support Center on Old Peachtree Road. During Thursday’s work session, school board members heard a report on refurbishing other buses for extended use rather than buying new ones.

I like the angle on this one.
