The Graduate

I shot Georgia Gwinnett College’s second ever graduation today.  It was interesting seeing a really small school’s graduation since I’ve only ever seen UGA’s (3 of them).  GGC graduated 31 people today and the ceremony was held in a room smaller than the SLC’s largest lecture hall.

The thing about shooting graduations is that they are all very similar.  People speak, people flip their tassels, sometimes they’ll throw their mortarboards in the air.  So the main challange is finding interesting ways to show the same thing people have probably seen a million times.

The good thing about the room the ceremony was in was that the backgrounds were all pretty interesting so I played around with those a bit.

Here are a handful of my favorites.

I just liked the geometry of the cut outs in the wall.
