Sir Paul McCartney’s concert at Piedmont Park wasn’t the only notable event in Midtown tonight. Earlier in the day a group of gays, lesbians and even heterosexuals met up in front of the Piedmont Park Visitor’s center to hold a “Kiss In.”
The event was a response to a gay couple who had been arrested for kissing in public in another state recently. Anyways, these protests were going on around the country and the idea was to have everyone kiss at the same time for about 5 minutes around 2:00 p.m. Turnout was far short of what Creative Loafing predicted (over 1,000). In reality, it was maybe 30 people, but it was still interesting to see.
