News: Lanier National Speedway’s final race

Last weekend the AJC sent me up to Braselton, Ga., to visit the last ever race at Lanier National Speedway.  Lanier National is a short-track, less than a mile long, that hosted several races a year for drivers who were just getting their start.  Declining attendance and participation due to the economy drove them (see what I did there?) to shutdown.

Cars race around the track in front of mostly empty stands at Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, Ga., on September 25, 2011.
