AthFest: Twin Tigers

Friday afternoon I shot Twin Tigers on the main stage of AthFest (click here to see other photos from AthFest). I don’t remember much about the show except that there was a stuffed unicorn sitting on the stage in front of the bassist.  She had a little dance with it towards the end of the [...]

AthFest: The Corduroy Road

Friday afternoon I shot The Corduroy Road on the main stage of AthFest (click here to see other photos from AthFest).  I’d never heard of them before, but my friend Danielle recommended I check them out.  The band is a bit folksy with definite bluegrass influence, as evidenced by the banjo and stand up bass. [...]

AthFest: Dead Confederate

Second post from AthFest (click here to see them all).  This one is from the Dead Confederate show from Friday evening.  They opened up for The Black Lips and were a bit more traditional and what I’d expect to be on the stage. The crowd was pretty dense for the show and the fans seemed [...]

AthFest: The Black Lips

Welcome to AthFest (click here to see all my photos from this year’s AthFest), the annual celebration of local music in the city of Athens, Ga.  Better known as the home of R.E.M., the B-52′s and Drive By Truckers (among other big names), but its also home to the University of Georgia.  Anyways, once a [...]

Venice is Sinking @ Woodruff

This is Venice is Sinking.  They are from Athens, Ga.  They play music.  They played at the Woodruff Arts Center’s Night on the Piazza show tonight. I know people who have been talking about them for a few years now, but I’d never actually heard their music.  That’s the strange thing though, with the exception [...]

Tin Cup Prophette @ Woodruff

Here are photos from Tin Cup Prophette‘s set at the Woodruff Arts Center’s Nights at the Piazza tonight.  Tin Cup Prophette is a band from Athens much like Hope for agoldensummer who played two weeks ago. In related news, for those of you who are going to AthFest next weekend, make sure you check out [...]

Hope for agoldenjosh

Tonight the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta started up a month long series of free concerts. Tonight three groups played but I didn’t get there until right as the first act finished up. The three were Nerdkween, Tealights and Hope for agoldensummer from Athens. The shows are supposed to be outside, but the weather dragged them in tonight.

Symply symphonic

Lauren’s mom is in the North Georgia Chamber Symphony and they had a performance tonight up in Dawsonville.  I went with Lauren and her mom asked me to bring my camera and take some photos, so I was all, “I can do that.”  They have performances on Saturday and Sunday as well. Mrs. Chester, right, [...]

Allison Weiss is okay with me

Allison Weiss is not my sister.  However, we crossed paths a few times at UGA while I was still a student there.  Also, by coincidence, we ended up living in the same apartment complex my senior year. Anyways, she plays music, I take photos.  So when I heard she was playing a free show in [...]

@lanta

Life is art, or at least it is to me.  When I have my camera, I shoot what I see, as I see it.  I see the world in a strange way, from odd angles, but I make them work.  Maybe that’s the story of my life:  taking strange and uncomfortable situations and turning them [...]
