Portrait: Erin Guiney

Earlier this month I had a senior portrait session with Erin Guiney (I shot her brothers as well 1, 2). Her mother decided she was more of a city girl than her siblilngs so we took the show to Piedmont Park so we could try to get the Atlanta Skyline in some of our shots.

Medium Format: Creative Circus Portraits (1st Quarter)

As many of you know, I’ve been shooting a lot less these past few months because I have gone back to school for Art Direction at Creative Circus in Atlanta.  It’s an intense, 2-year program but it will prepare me for a job in the field once I graduate in 2013.  At the end of [...]

Photos of the Year: Portraits (2011)

Here are my favorite portraits from the year.

Wedding: Kendra and Josh

This past Saturday I shot the wedding reception of Kendra and Josh at Cedar Plantation in Acworth, Ga.  The two actually got married on November 11 in Las Vegas, but had a local reception for all their friends.  Instead of the typical dinner and dancing, the two added in a gambling theme to bring Vegas [...]

Wedding: Elizabeth and Doug

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to shoot the wedding of Doug Uno and Elizabeth Hernandez at Ray’s On the River.  I did their engagement photos in late September (here), so I knew in advance how easy and pleasurable it would be to work with them again. The ceremony was small and was held [...]

Portrait: Mark Guzdial (WSJ)

Last week the Wall Street Journal called asking if I could nab some portraits a computer science professor at Georgia Tech named Mark Guzdial.  The portraits were part of a series for a story about how college students are having trouble finding jobs. Georgia Tech professor Mark Guzdial poses for portraits outside his office in [...]

Wedding: Kala and Alan

This past weekend I had the pleasure of shooting my friend Alan’s wedding to his fiance Kala in Auburn, Ala.  Alan and I met when he was an international student studying at UGA.  He joined the Demosthenian Literary Society the week before me and we kept in touch after he went back to Ireland and [...]

Portraits: Matt and Sarah

Sunday afternoon I made my way up to Athens to pay another visit to Matt and Sarah.  We took some more portraits around the Boulevard area of the city. They get married in less than two weeks so get stoked for them! Matt and Sarah pose near the Boulevard neighborhood of Athens, Ga., on September [...]

Portraits: Elizabeth and Doug

This past Sunday morning I met up with Elizabeth and Doug at Piedmont Park for an engagement portrait session.  I’ll actually be shooting their wedding next month and couldn’t be more excited.  The two, who were initially very nervous about having their portraits made, turned out to be naturals and loved hamming it up for [...]

Portraits: Natasha Smith

The other day after selling off some gear I didn’t use frequently I upgraded my 50mm f/1.4 lens to the Canon 50mm f/1.2 L series lens.  First and foremost, I didn’t buy this lens for the marginal 1/3 stop of light it was capable of.  I bought it for the superior build quality over the [...]
