The week was kicked off by the unveiling of three new portraits in the Holmes-Hunter Academic Building of Charlayne Hunter-Gault, Hamilton Holmes, and Mary Frances Early. Early was the only one of the three who was in attendance because Gault lives in South Africa, Holmes is deceased. The three were the first African-American students to attend the University.
