I shot these photos on a trip to Macon. I had just gotten lunch with The Telegraph’s photo editor, Woody Marshall, when we spotted this man sitting by this chess set out next to the road. We pulled over and shot a bit.
Sadly, I only had my 50mm f/1.8 with me at the time so I had to think of new ways to get the photos I wanted. I think I did pretty decently though. I tried a lot of different angles, but for some reason the best ones all were from the 90 degree angle.
