There was some event going on called “Funday” today at a local park.  It was cosponsored by the Anniston Housing Authority, the Boys & Girls Club and The Anniston Parks and Recreation Department.  Basically, they got all these inflatable things and let the kids play with them as they got food and got to swim in the pool.

I’d shot a lot of inflatables this summer so after getting some safety shots I wondered over to the pool to see what I could do.

Its been a fairly slow week at the paper, but yesterday I got a fairly interesting assignment about a soup kitchen in town.  I was pretty excited to go, but when I got there I ran into some problems.  Mainly that almost no one at the kitchen wanted to have their photo taken.  I’m not sure why they were so hesitant, but I’m not going to argue with someone about it if they really don’t want to be in the paper.  This guy was cool though and let me shoot him.

The story was about the upcoming tax free weekend in Alabama.  So, more photos of people shopping, for clothes…  At least this time I could shoot the kids reaction.

I went and shot this big “Drum and Bugle Corps” (aka marching band) competition Sunday night.  The big question for me was how was I going to shoot it?  I’d never done anything like this before so I figured I’d try some safe shots of individuals playing, then spend some time doing more experimental shots line panning on one guy as the other people were moving in the other direction.
