Tonight Clemson came to town to play Georgia Tech in the schools’ first ACC game of the season. I know very little about ACC football other than that VT is usually a good team, Miami and FSU used to be good and Boston College was good when Matt Ryan was there. Thus, I didn’t know what to expect from the game, but people told me it should be close.
After Tech jumped out to a 21 point lead in the first quarter, it looked like they would steam roll the Tigers, but Tech only managed to score 6 points through the next three quarters and Clemson mounted a comeback. It was a really close game and judging by the faces of some of the Tech fans, I think many of them thought they would lose after giving up such a huge lead. Lucky for Tech, a Clemson player got called on holding after the Tigers successfully caught a pass that would have put them 1st and goal with just over 2 minutes left to play.
The penalty prevented Clemson from getting a first down though and Tech managed to score a field goal. Clemson wasn’t able to get the ball down field and on the 4th down threw a long pass that got tipped away by a Tech defender icing the cake for the win.
Game’s like this are usually hard to shoot because you want to be in prime position for that key play that will win the game for either team. Most of the time though, its just luck that puts you in the right place to get that shot.

| This pass was called back on a holding penalty. If the flag hadn’t been thrown, this would have been the end of the game for Tech. It would have set Clemson up with a 1st and goal with about 2 or 3 minutes left in the game. Georgia Tech: Jerrard Tarrant (37) Clemson: Jacoby Ford (6) |

| After Tech scored a field goal, Clemson had about 1 minute to get on the score board again or lose the game. The Clemson QB on 4th and long aired the ball down the field in a last ditch effort to get his team in scoring position. To Tarrant’s credit, he was able to make a play and tipped the ball out of Spiller’s hands preserving the win. Georgia Tech: Jerrard Tarrant (37) Clemson: C.J. Spiller (28) |

I sure wish it wasn’t as close as it was but I didn’t think Clemson would go easily.
Thanks for sharing!

Awesome photos, Brant has the look of fear as he thinks he’s about to be run over. He didn’t look any worse for wear in Athens Saturday night, a little cut on the nose.
