Football – Virginia Tech vs. Alabama

Second game of the day yesterday was Alabama vs. Virginia Tech at the Georgia Dome as part of Chick-Fil-A’s kick off event.  Last year Alabama played in the event as well, facing Clemson.  The game is supposed to pit an SEC team against an ACC team to mirror the Chick-Fil-A bowl at the end of [...]

Red Bull Soap Box Derby @ Piedmont Park

Much earlier in the summer I saw a sign for Red Bull’s Soap Box Derby, which would be taking place in midtown.  Then at the Reynoldstown Wheelbarrow Festival, I saw another sign.  Today it finally came. I got to 10th and Piedmont right around 11:30 a.m. and shot the pits for a little bit before [...]

Iran Protest @ Lenox Mall

Today there was another Iran protest (see last week’s here), but this one was outside of Lenox Mall which is conveniently not far from where I live.  Brett and I headed over to see what we could get.  Although it was a bit slow to start, something did happen that made this protest very interesting [...]

Iran protest at CNN

Today there was a protest for Iran at the CNN Center. Brett and I went down and shot for about an hour and a half and I submitted some of what I got to Zuma after I got home.

The protest was interesting, there were actually two different factions that were there and both seemed to be upset about the other one, basically they didn’t trust each other from what I gathered.

People on both sides were friendly to me however, although a few people wouldn’t give me their names. To each their own.

AthFest: Madeline Adams

This is the final post of mine from AthFest 2009 (click here to see more photos from AthFest).  I was fortunate enough to catch Madeline Adams once again (click here for more photos of Madeline).  This lady rocks and its always a pleasure to see her. When you first walk into the venue part of [...]

AthFest: Twin Tigers

Friday afternoon I shot Twin Tigers on the main stage of AthFest (click here to see other photos from AthFest). I don’t remember much about the show except that there was a stuffed unicorn sitting on the stage in front of the bassist.  She had a little dance with it towards the end of the [...]

AthFest: The Corduroy Road

Friday afternoon I shot The Corduroy Road on the main stage of AthFest (click here to see other photos from AthFest).  I’d never heard of them before, but my friend Danielle recommended I check them out.  The band is a bit folksy with definite bluegrass influence, as evidenced by the banjo and stand up bass. [...]

AthFest: Dead Confederate

Second post from AthFest (click here to see them all).  This one is from the Dead Confederate show from Friday evening.  They opened up for The Black Lips and were a bit more traditional and what I’d expect to be on the stage. The crowd was pretty dense for the show and the fans seemed [...]

AthFest: The Black Lips

Welcome to AthFest (click here to see all my photos from this year’s AthFest), the annual celebration of local music in the city of Athens, Ga.  Better known as the home of R.E.M., the B-52′s and Drive By Truckers (among other big names), but its also home to the University of Georgia.  Anyways, once a [...]

Georgia Theatre’s Wilmot Greene

This morning I got news that the Georgia Theatre in Athens had undertaken extensive damage on the inside from a fire that started on the second floor.  This occurs a week before AthFest, a festival which will have a new meaning this year. During my first month as a staff photographer for The Red & [...]
