Friday night I shot the Collins Hill at Roswell High School football game. At first it was looking like it would be the perfect game, Roswell was up by a few scores, the clock was running fast and all signs pointed to me being able to finish transmitting photos by 10:00 pm and thus let [...]
Friday’s game for the AJC was Collins Hill at Peachtree Ridge. Collins Hill went into the game undefeated. It was an interesting game if for no other reason that I’d shot both of these teams already this season (here and here).
I figured Peachtree Ridge probably would have an edge going into the game despite coming [...]
These were from the North Forsyth vs. Collins Hill game last Friday that I shot for the AJC. North Forsyth runs the triple option, which is what Georgia Tech runs. You’d think I’d be used to shooting it and not fall for the fakes and misdirection, but you’d be wrong. Way wrong. That crap is [...]
Last night was my first ever assignment for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. I had contacted them earlier in the summer to let them know I was available for high school football and other freelance work this fall, and earlier in the week they followed up with me.
This was my first high school game with my big [...]
This is my final preseason countdown post (see the others here here, here and here). Today’s football photos are all high school level. They are all copyright The Anniston Star, the Gwinnett Daily Post and OurVarsity.com
Central Gwinnett High School’s Malcom Moulton got decked during a play against Birkmar High School in 2007.
Day 4 of the basketball tournament and two more games for you. Today includes Collins Hill vs. Peachtree Ridge and Brookwood vs Meadowcreek, both boys.
Gwinnett has so much sports talent, its honestly kind of weird to think that any of these kids I’ve shot could be in the NBA one day.
Another portrait I shot back in November that just got used. I think I used one light off to the side. If I could do it again I’d use a green gel to color the wall behind him.
Collins Hill junior Joel Smith is a three-time Area 7-AAAAA champion and finished second at state last year.
This is a portrait I took back in November, but the story just ran today. There is a bonus portrait of him behind the cut that didn’t make it into the paper.
Collins Hill’s Gary Tiller was runner-up for the state title last year. He’s looking to lead Collins Hill to a second straight state duals [...]
Shot the Gwinnett County Wrestling Championships today at North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Ga. I’ve never shot wrestling before, or been to a meet before, so it was an interesting experience.
I think I did decently, hopefully I’ll do better next time though.
Matt Johnson (Parkview) dec. Corban Nilson (Brookwood) 3-2
Welcome to the fourth installment of my year in review. This time it is sportraits, or portraits involving sports.
Honorable Mention: Brookwood softball player Julia Westbrook.
