Basketball: Marietta at Parkview

Last Saturday I shot the Marietta vs. Parkview girls first round playoff basketball game for the AJC.  Parkview was the #1 team in the state and undefeated.  They ended up losing by 1 point after they missed a last second shot.  Everyone was stunned.
During a game like this, where David defeats Goliath, it’s all about [...]

Portraits: North Springs Varsity & JV Basketball

Took some photos of the North Springs High School girls varsity and junior varsity basketball teams.
This post was affected by technical problems, due to time limitations a thumbnail gallery has been posted instead of all the photos as per the usual. Click a thumbnail to see the full photo.

Varsity girls.

Basketball: Tucker vs. North Springs

Photos from the Tucker vs. North Springs basketball games at Tucker Middle School.  The light sucked, except for the first shot where some light came in through the windows.

The only nice light happened during warm ups.

The big show

On Saturday I went back down to Macon to cover the finals for the A and AA state championships.  Wesleyan played Savannah Country Day for division A and Buford played Model for division AA, both Wesleyan and Buford won their games.

Wesleyan’s Anne Marie Armstrong, right, hugs assistant coach Mary Stephenson, left, after the Wolves downed [...]

The Final Countdown

As mentioned, yesterday I shot some Final Four games in Macon at the Macon Centreplex.  The games were Greater Atlanta Christian vs Dublin (boys) and Buford vs Laney (girls).

Tough luck dude.

Get Carter

Portrait session at Buford High School this afternoon.

Buford’s Andraya Carter is a rising star and one of the top freshmen in Georgia. The point guard already has offers from several Division I programs.

Wide eye basketball

I shot four basketball games today in Carrollton and in order to keep my sanity I tried thinking of ways I hadn’t shot basketball before.  This includes different shooting positions and of course, different lens selection.

Norcrosss Adrian Hubbard (42) goes up for a layup as Wheeler defenders watch Saturday in Carrollton.

Just face it

Shot this today, the writer told me that she had broken her nose earlier in the season and had to wear a protective mask so I should try to incorporate that.  Incorporate I did.

Parkview’s Lauren Coleman is one of the top scorers and assist leaders in Gwinnett County.

The South shall rise again

Last night South Gwinnett played my first high school, Centennial, during the second round of the state tournament.  Apparently Centennial was heavily favored, but South hung in and won after 2 overtimes.
Normally overtime, or close games in general make me nervous because I have to make a decision about which story I am going to [...]

Erin Hall

I had a different idea for this portrait at first, but during my test shots i noticed these lights coming from the background and decided to play with them in the portrait instead.

Wesleyan’s Erin Hall is the second-leading scorer returning from the school’s defending state championship team. Hall is looking to help her team win [...]
