Hotel Illustration

A few months ago while I was on Reddit I came across a photo of a hotel. I thought it would make a really nice illustration, so I saved it. I finally had some free time over the weekend so I went ahead and took a stab at it.

Capitol Records Building

After I finished Randy's, I was still feeling super motivated to draw so I decided to take on another Los Angeles landmark. While drawing Randy's I realized that my style lent itself to painting so I made a few modifications. to see how it'd look. Which do you prefer?

As a side note, I took the original mural and dropped it in in Photoshop. I'm not skilled enough to recreate real art on my own.

Randy’s Donuts

You start to think about the things you miss when you're stuck inside during a pandemic. It's kind of like how I think about what I miss while I'm dieting. In this case, I'm doing both simultaneously. As such, I realized I really really miss donuts. So I illustrated the biggest one I could think of.

I was originally going to just do it as a black and white, but decided to add color once I got close to finishing. Both versions are below. Have a preference?

NYC Illustration

I was going through some old photos I shot while I was living in NY and found one from the Fort George Neighborhood that I thought would make a good illustration.

I started out more or less tracing the original photo, but figured out that doing it that way was super inefficient and created perspective issues since every individual window would have to be custom made. I remembered that Illustrator has a Perspective Grid tool, so I figured out how to use it and was able to be way more efficient as a result.

Brother’s House Illustration

For my brother's birthday I made him an illustration of the first house he owned. Him and his wife moved into a new house this past June, so I thought it would be a fun thing to hang in his new house.

Donutman

Still working on my illustration/digital painting skills. I have a long long way to go still. This is an ode to the film "Sex Drive" that came out in the late 2000's. The main character works at a donut shop in the mall and has to wear this outfit while handing out coupons.

Anniversary Gift

I made this for my parent's 40th anniversary this week. Thought I'd share it here as well. This is the house they've been living in since 1996.
