NYC Illustration

I was going through some old photos I shot while I was living in NY and found one from the Fort George Neighborhood that I thought would make a good illustration.

I started out more or less tracing the original photo, but figured out that doing it that way was super inefficient and created perspective issues since every individual window would have to be custom made. I remembered that Illustrator has a Perspective Grid tool, so I figured out how to use it and was able to be way more efficient as a result.

Brother’s House Illustration

For my brother's birthday I made him an illustration of the first house he owned. Him and his wife moved into a new house this past June, so I thought it would be a fun thing to hang in his new house.

Donutman

Still working on my illustration/digital painting skills. I have a long long way to go still. This is an ode to the film "Sex Drive" that came out in the late 2000's. The main character works at a donut shop in the mall and has to wear this outfit while handing out coupons.

Anniversary Gift

I made this for my parent's 40th anniversary this week. Thought I'd share it here as well. This is the house they've been living in since 1996.

Victorian

When I was little I was convinced I wanted to be an architect. I used to spend hours playing around in home CAD programs. Even though I ultimately went a different path, I still find myself drawn to architecture. Maybe it's the geometry. My brain tends to run really organized and I like when things make geometric sense.

Anyway, here is an illustration I did based on some trips to San Francisco the past few months.

Octopus

Earlier this year I bought and iPad Pro and Apple Pencil and it's really helped me with drawing more. I think I always hated how with an eraser on real paper you never could quite perfectly erase mistakes. It's a lot easier to do digitally, obviously, so I find myself picking it up more to try random things then I did when I only had a notebook and pencils/pens.

A Mom and her Cub

Had some extra time today so I played around more with adding illustration into real scenes. I pulled this old portrait I shot a few years ago of one of my friends and her son to use as the bass.
