Generative AI
MAKING THINGS OUT OF THIN AIR IN RECORD TIME.
I've been playing with generative AI since 2022. I've watched it grow from creating weird stuff that might only work as an NFT (when that was a thing) to a legitimate tool in an art director's arsenal. Over that time I've begun incorporating it into my standard workflow so I can work more efficiently. Here are some things I've made for myself and clients.
Home
Some random fun I had with two of my favorite subjects.
Tools: Mostly Photoshop Generative Fill
Encyclawpedia Dictatia
Anaiis used ChatGPT to create baseline entries for each dictator and then rewrote each to feature cat references and puns.
For the site design I even asked Midjourney to imagine what our entry pages could look like. I then took elements of it's suggestions and built it out.
Something that would have taken months previously was fully completed in 3 weeks.
Tools: Midjourney, ChatGPT, Photoshop, Wordpress

Typography
I've been playing aroung with AI to create typography. Here are some my experiments. It's been interesting seeing how different features of the AI platforms can be used in ways they weren't necessarily intended to.
Tools: Firefly, Illustrator
A.I.D.C.
It started by me wanting to see how well I could recreate real people within Midjourney. It turned into a self-promo piece that involved hand carving details into five containers that looked like books, designing a modified version of the Art Directors Club logo, designing a typographic treatment and invite for each recipient, handbuilding a set of printed tags with a note to each recipient, a landing page with a note from me and copy of my portfolio for each QR code tailored to each individual recipient (and to see who actually scanned it), and of course the AI/version of each recipient as a framed photo for their desk.
But ultimately what was more important than the 5 recipients, was the 32,000+ impressions my LinkedIn post documenting it got.
Tools: Midjourney + Photoshop
But before any of that, I tried it as a post on LinkedIn and it completely bombed. Sometime's it's all in the execution.
