I volunteered to ideate, write and design a new campaign for my collegiate debate society. The platform the society chose was "TikTalk," immediately establishing the organization as The University of Georgia's Original Social Network (founded in 1803 and a major part of campus life for part of it's history).
The society then chose the campaign "Go Viral for Something You Can Be Proud of," comparing the numerous ways you can go viral for bad reasons and contrasting them with the attention you can command as a powerful public speaker.
A headline driven campaign with art direction cues from 1800's era advertising. The headlines are all hyperfocused on student life at the University of Georgia to especially speak to potential members around campus. The gavel is an important part of the meetings, being used to open, close and otherwise conduct business. For this reason, the DLS's logo was engraved onto one. The gavel is placed over the flat background in 3D space to show a modern society onto of an anachronistic history.
For social I stripped down the print to make it easier to create more posts. A contest was also held for members and alumni to submit lines for possible inclusion in the campaign. Social templates were also made to highlight famous alumni, resolutions brought forward at meetings and new members who have successfully petitioned the society for membership.
Working with the University Archives, the Society will create an exhibit featuring their different famous alumni who have "gone viral" on their own terms. With a long list of famous politicans, statesmen, business people and academics there will be no shortage of alumni that could be featured. University Archives can provide society artifacts from the eras of these members including original minutes that mention them (or were even written by them).
